It’s Never Too Early to Prep for Spring Sports!

It may still feel too early for baseball, tennis, and other spring sports, but if you want to get that advantage, now’s the best time to start prepping with the Sievers Sports Medicine team. Whether you’re one of our student-athletes or just an active adult, thinking ahead can help reduce injury risk and improve performance once you get back in your routine.

At Sievers Sports Medicine, we provide a range of sports medicine services designed to prevent injuries, facilitate early treatment, and offer comprehensive support, all under the guidance of an experienced medical team specializing in urgent care and sports medicine.

Four Ways We Can Help With Spring Sports Readiness Right Now

Start Strong With a Pre-Participation Exam

If you’re a student-athlete, you might think of your pre-participation exam as another thing to get checked off your pre-season to-do list. In reality, a good exam can help identify any major risks before they become a concern. Here’s what we look at:

  • Heart and lung health
  • Joint mobility and muscle balance
  • Prior injuries and lingering pain
  • Growth, conditioning, and training history

Support Your Body’s Repair Systems with Regenerative Medicine

Popular spring sports, such as baseball or lacrosse, often involve rapid increases in running, throwing, jumping, and cutting movements. All of these movements can irritate tendons, joints, and soft tissues. If you already have a minor injury in these areas, the sudden jump in training could trigger a more serious injury.

Fortunately, we offer several regenerative medicine options that can address existing tendon irritation or joint pain, helping ensure a fresh start in the spring. Options may include:

Fuel Performance and Recovery with Nutritional IVs

As you start your pre-season training, hydration and nutrient balance play a major role in how the body performs and recovers. Nutritional IV therapy provides a means of delivering essential fluids, vitamins, and minerals directly into the bloodstream, ensuring optimal nutrient delivery and absorption.

Common benefits include:

  • Improved hydration
  • Reduced muscle fatigue
  • Support for energy production
  • Faster recovery after intense activity

For athletes who train early, travel often, or struggle with hydration, IV therapy can help maintain consistency during the season.

Discover Wellness Support Before the Season Starts

Preparing for spring sports involves more than just injury care. Our wellness promotion services focus on enhancing overall health, enabling athletes to train and compete more effectively.

Your program begins with a comprehensive review of:

  • Daily activity and sleep habits
  • Nutrition and hydration patterns
  • Stress levels and mental focus
  • Current fitness and conditioning

This information helps us identify areas that may impact performance or increase the risk of injury. We can then make recommendations for strategies to enhance areas such as cardiovascular endurance, muscle strength, and metabolic health.

Five Practical Strategies to Prepare Right Now

  • Schedule your pre-participation or wellness exam before practices begin.
  • Address lingering pain instead of training through it.
  • Start off with some light training now to avoid sudden overload.
  • Prioritize sleep, hydration, and a balanced diet.
  • Seek early care for pain that lasts more than a few days.
