How Regenerative Treatments Support an Active Lifestyle

Unlike traditional pain medication, regenerative care doesn’t just mask symptoms. Instead, it addresses the underlying issue, helping you prepare for an active summer season. Here are three treatments we offer at our clinic:

PRP therapy harnesses the healing properties of your blood’s platelets to stimulate tissue repair and reduce inflammation. It is particularly beneficial for those returning to high-impact activities like hiking and golf, as it encourages faster healing and stronger tissue regeneration.

What Conditions Can It Address?

  • Soft tissue recovery, helping muscles heal faster from strain or overuse
  • Tendon injuries such as tennis elbow, Achilles tendonitis, and patellar tendinopathy
  • Joint pain relief, particularly in weight-bearing joints like the knees, hips, and shoulders

Stem cell therapy is an advanced regenerative treatment that uses your body’s stem cells (which have regenerative properties) to repair and rebuild damaged tissues. It’s an excellent option for anyone who wants to maintain long-term joint health.

What Conditions Can It Address?

  • Chronic pain and stiffness
  • Degenerative joint conditions (such as arthritis)
  • Tendon and ligament injuries

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in joints that provides lubrication and shock absorption. As joints age or degenerate, their natural hyaluronic acid levels can decline, leading to pain and stiffness. Hyaluronic acid injections replace these levels, improving function in people with osteoarthritis.

What Are Some Benefits of These Injections?

  • Support long-term joint function, allowing for better performance in sports and outdoor activities
  • Reduce knee and hip stiffness, improving mobility for activities like walking and hiking
  • Ease discomfort caused by osteoarthritis, making movement smoother and more comfortable

PNT is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat chronic tendon issues. Using a small needle to break down damaged tissue stimulates the body to repair and regenerate stronger, healthier tendons.

What Conditions Can It Address?

  • Rotator cuff issues, often experienced by golfers or other activities requiring swinging motions
  • Golfer’s elbow, tennis elbow, and other overuse injuries common in active individuals
  • Achilles tendon pain, which can make walking and hiking difficult

Whether you’re a golfer or a hiker, summer is the perfect time to get outdoors–and you don’t want pain and stiffness to stop you from doing what you love!  The Sievers Sports Medicine team will work with you to determine which of our regenerative care techniques is the right option for your needs and goals. Here are some of the benefits they can provide:

  • Faster Recovery: Encourages natural healing for injuries that might keep you indoors
  • Reduced Pain: Minimizes discomfort without the need for medication or surgery
  • Improved Mobility: Enhances movement and reduces stiffness
  • Enhanced Endurance: Helps you stay active for longer with less pain and fatigue
  • Prevention of Future Injuries: Strengthens tissues and joints to reduce the risk of strains, sprains, and other sports injuries

Recipe of the Month: Stuffed Peppers

Ingredients:

  • 4 bell peppers (any color)
  • 3/4 lb. lean, ground turkey
  • 1/2 medium onion (chopped)
  • 1/2 cup uncooked brown rice
  • 14.5 oz. canned, no-salt-added, diced tomatoes
  • 1 clove fresh, minced garlic (or 1 teaspoon garlic minced from jar)
  • 1 tsp. reduced-sodium Italian seasoning (lowest sodium available)
  • 1/4 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes (for spiciness), (optional)
  • 8 oz. canned, no-salt-added tomato sauce

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cook rice to package instructions (omitting salt). While the rice is cooking, in skillet over medium heat, brown the turkey. Add the onion and cook for 3 minutes more (until onion becomes translucent).
  2. Wash the bell peppers and remove the tops, seeds and membranes. Set peppers in a 9×9 baking dish or line them up in a loaf pan, so they stand upright.
  3. In a medium mixing bowl, mix turkey, rice, tomato, garlic, Italian seasoning, and pepper. Spoon into each pepper. Spoon tomato sauce evenly over the top of the 4 peppers. Bake 1 hour in the oven, until peppers are tender.
